BRIAN KING, M.S. Psych.

Executive Director and Co-Founder 

Brian King, Aa'Ka'sta'Ko (Many Mountains) is an enrolled member of the Blackfeet Tribe. Mr. King started his work career as the director of the Blackfeet Health & Safety Corps, the first AmeriCorps project at the Blackfeet Nation. Following that Brian managed a national training contract for Tribal AmeriCorps projects. Recently Mr. King worked for six years at Montana State University supporting Native American students in higher education. Mr. King resides at the Blackfeet Nation and co-founded “Mountains All Around” to develop sustainable and ecological climate change solutions for future generations. In his spare time, Brian likes to hang out with his family, travel around in his solar-paneled 5th wheeler and attend cultural events.

JOHN BIRD, M.Ed

Board President

John Bird is an enrolled member of the Blackfeet Tribe and a descendant of the Tlinget and Haida Central Council of Southeast Alaska. He holds an M.Ed. degree from Montana State University in Mental Health Counseling.  John has worked for 35 years in the areas of community development for mental health and wellness, mostly with Native American communities or tribal organizations.  He currently works for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Tribal Training and Technical Assistance Center, providing technical assistance to tribal programs in developing and implementing substance abuse and suicide prevention efforts. John lives most of the year in Tucson, Arizona but returns to his Blackfeet homelands in Montana for the summer, where he maintains a summer cabin.

DR. SHANE DOYLE, PH.D

Board Treasurer

Dr. Shane Doyle, Apsáalooke, is an educational and cultural consultant who hails from Crow Agency, MT. Shane is an educator, archaeological and genetic researcher, curriculum designer, environmental advocate, performance art producer, and Plains Indian style singer. Currently, Shane is helping to lead the commemoration of Yellowstone's 150th birthday with the installation of an Intertribal Teepee Village near Gardiner in August of 2022. Shane lives in Bozeman with his wife Megkian and their 5 children.

JAYA KING, BA Candidate (Film & Writing)

Co-Founder

Jaya King (she/they), Nato óóhkotokaakíí (Holy Rock Woman) is an enrolled member of the Blackfeet tribe and resides at the Blackfeet Nation. Jaya worked at The Montana Racial Equity Project as an Education Initiative leader where she pushed for equitable education. In 2020, Jaya was a recipient of "Forward Montana’s 25 Under 25 Award" for up-and-coming changemakers in Montana. While attending Brandeis University, Jaya served on an advisory panel to the president of the college working towards Indigenous land acknowledgments. Jaya finds hope in dreaming of a future where she can contribute to Indigenous peoples' joy through storytelling.
